Heartland, 2025, Earthenware, Majolica, Lustre, Grout, 22"x18"x18". Heartland pays homage to one of the pioneers of the Pattern and Decoration movement, Miriam Schapiro. Through the iconography of hearts and the use of vibrant color, I create an unapologetically sentimental piece about love and pleasure. The use of mosaic tiles allows me to emphasize the variation achieved through different glaze firings.
